5 Critical Questions for Recruitment Marketing in the Age of AI | Part 4

Align your recruitment marketing with evolving candidate decision journeys and help AI prioritize your brand for potential applicants.

In this series, we’re diving into the critical questions recruitment marketers should be asking in the age of AI. Now more than ever, the key to stronger recruitment marketing is having a dedicated, AI-driven strategy across every stage of the candidate journey.

The fourth question in our five-part series is:

#4: Are you measuring what truly drives success, or just what’s easiest to track?

For years, recruitment marketers have relied on familiar metrics: impressions, clicks, website traffic, application volume, and cost-per-application (CPA). While these indicators still provide value, they don't always reveal whether recruitment marketing is accomplishing its ultimate objective, nor do they measure whether you are attracting and converting the right candidates.

The rise of AI makes measurement even more complex. Candidates now discover opportunities through a wider variety of channels, many of which may never generate a traditional click before influencing a decision.

This means organizations need a more holistic view of performance.

The most effective recruitment marketers connect marketing activity to downstream recruiting outcomes. Instead of asking, "How many people saw our campaign?" they ask:

  • Did we attract the right audience?

  • Did candidates complete the application?

  • Did recruiters receive stronger applicants?

  • Did those hires succeed and stay?

New Questions to Consider in the Age of AI

  • Are AI-driven discovery channels influencing candidate behavior?

  • Are branded search volumes increasing?

  • Are external conversations about your organization growing?

  • Are more candidates arriving already informed about your value proposition?

  • Can you connect awareness efforts to applicant quality?

The organizations that win talent in the coming years won't necessarily be the ones running the largest campaigns. They'll be the ones generating the most meaningful outcomes.

Stay tuned for Question #5 in our last blog for this series.
