The At-Home Media Interview Checklist by De'Andre Brown

Reporters are doing interviews from home, using digital technology like Zoom, Skype, and even Facetime to bring you the news.

A couple weeks ago, my colleagues and I participated in our first Zoom media interview to discuss our “Fortify our Frontlines” initiative. Additionally, LMD’s non-profit partner Bernadette’s House was interviewed via Zoom to talk about how the organization took its in-person program for at-risk girls online in the wake of COVID-19.

At first, I was a bit hesitant because technology can be unpredictable; however, the interviews went off without a hitch. I put together this check-list of tips that you can use so that your next at-home media interview is a success. These tips aren’t just for media interviews—they can help make your next virtual meeting a success, too. Just be sure to check these 10 boxes.
