WHY YOU NEED A VIDEO

YouTube has 1 billion active users each month.

Let’s pause for a minute to let that sink in: 1 BILLION ACTIVE USERS. EACH. MONTH.

Video is the easiest--and by far, the most engaging--way to communicate with your audience, to the degree that it’s become essential to any smart marketer’s toolkit. One billion YouTube users can’t be wrong!

You probably already know you need more video content. Need a little bit more convincing? Here are some good reasons to use video:

Millennials
Here’s another big number to blow your mind: As of 2015, the millennial market had a combined global spending power of $2.45 TRILLION.* Millennials were raised with online videos—it’s how they consume content and stay informed. And according to researchers, 20% of millennials are likely to buy a product or service after watching a video ad.**

Retention
Videos activate more parts of our brains, resulting in higher retention. And if people remember your brand, they more likely they are to use your brand.***

Engagement
Video will get more engagement than a well written article on the same subject because consumers would rather watch than read.

Brand
A brand that has video content is viewed more favorably and perceived as more desirable.

Story
There is no better way to get someone invested in your story than through a well-made, authentic video.

HOW TO GET STARTED

Now you know you now you need to create some videos and probably have lots of great ideas for content. Here are some handy tips to get started:

Give it a goal
A video without a goal is a video that will disappoint you and your viewers. Do you want viewers to visit your website or go to your brick and mortar store? Do you want people to know how your company got started or about the people who work there? Goals give your video focus and momentum.

Keep it focused
Notice how I didn’t say “Give it a lot of goals.” A video that tries to accomplish too much is destined to bore your viewers and accomplish nothing.

Make a list
Collect concepts you think are important. Put them all in a list and then rank them from most important to least important because some things won’t make the cut.

Who’s the audience?
If you’re going after millennials, keep it short and fun, because they stop watching after about 10 seconds.

Hire a professional
Poorly made videos are the quickest way to lose a potential customer. It tells the viewer you don’t value your own product.
