LMD Creates New Website for the University System of Maryland

LAUREL, MD – June 6, 2006 – LMD Creates New Website for the University System of Maryland.

"The University System of Maryland (USM) has announced the launch of its newly redesigned website, www.usmd.edu. USM partnered with LMD to create the site, which features in-depth information on the system office as well as the 11 institutions, two research centers, and two regional centers comprising USM."

"We're proud to have been selected as USM's strategic partner for this project," said Sarah Pugh, LMD's president. "The system is esteemed regionally, nationally, and internationally as a leader in providing accessible, affordable, high-quality education. The site will help communicate USM's mission, around the state and around the world."

Added Anne Moultrie, USM's associate vice chancellor for communications, "We're excited about the launch of the new site. Its eye-catching, well-organized design does a good job of communicating what USM is and how we serve our students and Maryland citizens."

LMD developed the new site with the information needs of the end-user first and foremost. LMD first gathered input from the USM community, including members of the Board of Regents and USM staff, as well as university presidents, faculty, staff and students. Using that information as a foundation, LMD redesigned the site with an emphasis on ease-of-use, intuitive navigation, improved search functionality, and visual appeal.

The redesigned site features a "What's New" section on the homepage, live links to USM institutions, and current and archived system news. Current and prospective students enrolled in USM institutions will find tuition and fee schedules, as well as application, transfer, and transcript request instructions. Stakeholders can access current information on system policies, the Board of Regents, and Chancellor William E. Kirwan.
