LMD Launches New Website for National Foreign Language Center

LAUREL, MD – November 26, 2006 – LMD Launches New Website for National Foreign Language Center.

LMD announces the launch of a redesigned website for the National Foreign Language Center (NFLC) at the University of Maryland, a research institute specializing in development of innovative learning tools, research, and consulting for foreign languages.

"As globalization becomes more pervasive, improving communication with people around the world has taken on unprecedented importance," said Sarah Pugh, LMD's president. "We're thrilled to help NFLC advance its mission of strengthening our nation's capacity to communicate in languages other than English."

NFLC's new website showcases the center's particular focus on less frequently taught languages, with a welcome greeting on the home page in a variety of languages, including Russian, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, and Bengali. The site's design employs a sophisticated look and feel featuring photographs of people of many ethnicities to reflect NFLC's global reach. The site serves as an information clearinghouse on NFLC's projects and initiatives, including consulting on foreign language education policy, development of language learning technology, cutting-edge research, and publications.
