LMD Begins Research for Mason and Dixon Discovery Center
LAUREL, MD – March 3, 2008 – The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development's Division of Tourism, Film and the Arts has selected LMD to conduct market research on the target audiences independent front-end evaluation of audience characteristics at the Mason and Dixon Discovery Center.The center is operated by the Maryland Office of Tourism Development and located in Emmitsburg, MD, on Route 15 South—a major travel artery for tourists traveling south, especially those interested in Civil War history. The results of this research will be used to develop interpretive media and exhibits for the Center.
"The Center plays a key role in attracting tourism to the region and to Maryland overall," said Sarah Pugh, LMD's president. "We are excited to work with the Office of Tourism Development at the beginning stages of this project, to help the Office discover the messages and media that will resonate with tourists and enrich their experience."
LMD is charged with conducting focus groups and telephone research among target audiences to discover the types of exhibits, waysides, signage, and audio visual programs that will appeal to the Center's visitors. The results of research will be incorporated into the exhibit planning and design process to enhance the exhibit's effectiveness and appeal.
