About the Client
The Maryland Resource Center for Quitting Use and Initiation of Tobacco (MDQuit) is dedicated to assisting providers and supporting programs in reducing tobacco use among citizens across the state. MDQuit links healthcare professionals and providers to Maryland tobacco initiatives; provides evidence-based, effective smoking cessation resources and tools; and offers a forum for sharing best practices to tobacco prevention and cessation professionals.
Challenge
Build an accessible, organized, content-rich information hub for smoking cessation professionals that also allows users to take exams and obtain professional certification.
Solution
Designed the site to allow healthcare professionals and providers one-stop access to smoking cessation resources and initiatives throughout Maryland.
Developed a web-enabled database in which registered users can take an online exam to become a certified "Fax to Assist" smoking-cessation professional.
Employed a content management system (CMS) that allows the client to update the site's content quickly and easily.
Technology
This site was developed using LMD's e2 Website Framework. Written in PHP, this framework allows sites to be deployed on any server supporting PHP.
The site has a custom-development application that allows MDQuit.org to test and evaluate its users before they can gain access to certain resources.
